Here are some works in progress from our Optical Illusion project. First, we drew our hands; then, we chose another shape/form to apply the drawing technique. Students created 3D forms with the use of contrasting lines. I'm so impressed with their creativity!

We are learning to create Op Art hands, using lines and analogous colors. Colors which are next to each other on the color wheel are analogous and offer a harmonious color scheme.

We are using our gesture drawings from last week to draw frames for our upcoming stop motion animation videos. Students learn about the drawing style of Keith Haring and are encouraged to uses contour lines instead of stick figures.

Students take turns modeling for the class and make quick sketches with 2 minute poses. Vocab for the day: gesture drawing and proportion.

We made ceramic tiles using the additive method. We discussed the difference between low relief and high relief.
Fourth graders draw the American flag using shading techniques. The curved lines create the illusion of movement.
