Scholars have been working on their embroidery projects since the beginning of January. This is day 3 of the project where the scholars are using the running stitch, back stitch, and satin stitch to create an image. On day 2, scholars drew a sketch and transferred the image onto the burlap. On day 1, we learned how to thread a needle and create a border to prevent the burlap from unraveling. The kids are really enjoying this project!

5th graders have started their drawings with emphasis on parallel and perpendicular lines. Students were asked to avoid crossing through/over lines, but to instead imagine that objects were going under other objects. Our use of geometry concepts to create a drawing with spacial depth prepares us for an upcoming lesson on one-point perspective drawing.
